David Young started painting in oils in his late ‘teens and has gone on to become one of the West Country’s most notable landscape painters.  He is usually associated with Dartmoor which he travels extensively on foot or on his grey horse, Thomas.

He doesn’t complete many works in a year. Each painting takes months to complete and is agonised over; critical to each is light, texture and a feel for the atmosphere of the place. Having declined commissions for some years, he can now devote himself only to subjects that excite his imagination.

Living close to Tavistock, Mayflower Galleries is his ‘home’  gallery and exhibits most of his exclusive  collection of prints and Limited Editions together with a selection of his scarce original oil paintings.
